Love Never Fails

One of the most often read passages in weddings must be that of 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.  This beautiful passage, however, cannot be separated from 1 Corinthians 7 and Ephesians 5.  Love never fails, this is true, but when we spot "failed love" in our society ridden with separations, divorce, and adultery we must look to these other passages to see what true love is.
Above all things, love is the esteem of others above ourselves (Php 2:3) and submitting sacrificially (Eph 5:22-24).  When we love as we are called to love, nothing will prevail against it.  This is a daily challenge and struggle, but it is worth the reward.  Even in the case of obstinate and domineering husbands, we are called to the higher road of loving and submitting despite his failures (1 Pet 3:1-2).  This is true love, and it will never fail.  Though our hearts may grow weary from time to time, let us always look to Christ for strength (Psalm 105:4-6).

During this Valentine's Day, whether you find yourself in a wonderful relationship, a rocky relationship, or trekking through life alone, cause your life to be a witness of love and grace.
